Dealing with hair algae breakouts in the aquascape. Tried reducing the lights which may have slowed it down but not really. Tried reducing C02 with little effect. Also stopped dosing fertilizer thinking the grass and moss don’t actually use it.
I’m currently performing a large water change after a cleaning to see if it starts to help slow down the algae.
Addy, the aquascaping cat, is okay with the green algae since it appears to imitate a flowing, grassy slope.
Turns out my Amano shrimps and Otocinclus catfishes are picky eaters and don’t care for the stuff. Check out one of my Amanos traversing the Iwagumi mountainous slope… just ignoring the hair algae.

Hair algae sucks. I was able to get mine under control by adding more carbon (excel) and stopping the fertilizer. And of course just pulling as much of it out as I could. I thought Amano were good algae eaters?
